And VERY unfortunately, there was a roughly 3-week window during which the current production releases of Reflect contained a CBT driver version that had a bug that caused all Differential and Incremental backups created using CBT to be corrupt - without Reflect giving any indication of that.

And if the user needs that other application but doesn't really need CBT, then for that user it makes sense to solve the interaction problem by getting rid of CBT, even if it was more the other application's "fault". In fairness, in many cases the underlying cause has been CBT's interaction with something else, and possibly that "something else" could have been written differently in order to avoid the conflict, but the fact is that if CBT hadn't been installed, those interactions and the resulting BSoDs wouldn't have occurred. Not only does that mean a lot of potentially avoidable restarts, but many of those updates have been issued to fix issues like BSoDs that CBT has caused. And as it happens, a cursory look over the Reflect V7 release notes here will show you that CBT gets updated A LOT. And on some systems like servers, a restart is inconvenient.

For one, it's a low-level driver, so if a Reflect update has to update it, then you'll be prompted to restart your system after that Reflect update, whereas you wouldn't be if it wasn't installed. Adding unnecessary components just increases complexity - and therefore risk - without adding any value But it's also true that CBT in particular comes with some baggage. That's partly because as a general philosophy I believe in keeping my systems as simple as possible to achieve my needs. But since I don't do either of those things, I actually keep CBT completely uninstalled on the systems I use and support on behalf of clients, not just disabled. In that case, the fact that Reflect doesn't have to scan through those large files to figure out which specific data blocks have changed - because CBT already has a record of all changed blocks - can cut down on image creation time, sometimes quite significantly. The other is capturing image backups of partitions that contain several very large files, such as a virtualization host storing lots of virtual disks for VMs or a database server hosting a very large database. One use case is users who perform very frequent Incrementals (every 15-30 minutes) where skipping the "Looking for changes" step means you save a significant portion of time on the overall backup job. I will preface this by saying that for certain use cases, CBT delivers a major value, and I know there are users who can't imagine going back to not having it. I bought home edition for the quickness of incremental, I backup often and differential (free version) was getting out of hand. I just don't want to have any images messed up. And in the latest version, 7.2 4808 is it best having it enabled or not, please explain. But please explain to me in a little more detail about CBT. I read the Knowledge base article about this.
